Good morning!

Well... Monday was a bit of a zinger! (a double-whammy of closure announcements)

And today, I have a teensy zinger of my own. (no more event stacks)

Let's get to it!

Gladiator Brewing Company's Last Day: September 11, 2022

Monday, the first sad bit of news I saw was from Gladiator Brewing Company, with the below announcement...

There comes a time in each of our lives when crossroads appear in our path. This time has come for Gladiator Brewing Co. As difficult as this is we will be opening the doors for one last time on the 11th of September. We can not pour enough of our gratitude for our regulars and those who have supported us along the way. Through our tap room, we have witnessed new life and shared the tears of lives passed on. We shared our table at Thanksgiving and watched creations on canvas. Youā€™ve privileged us by celebrating your pets, birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, reunions, and bittersweet farewells. Weā€™ve celebrated the lives of the fallen, the victories of our Soldiers, and our freedom! What more could a small, veteran-owned business ask for? We depart full of love and honor. Our Kitchen is now closed and we ask that mug club members kindly retrieve their mugs before the 11th of September. We will be unable to hand these out after this time. Please join us these next two weeks as we transition into our final celebration of ā€œone perfectly brewed beer every single timeā€Cheers!

Gladiator Brewing Co.

Obviously, many loyal fans are sad. Even once-in-a-while-ers are feeling heavy over the announcement. This brewery was loved by so many.

Owner, Funda Pradke, shared this to help locals understand the reason behind the closure...

Hello everyone... Thank you for all the support you provided to me and Gladiator. I appreciate it a lot.

We are closing our doors on September 11th because of the staff issue, inflation, dropped sales, and because of the stress that comes with these issues. I hope I was able to make a little difference in someoneā€™s life and I was able to inspire one or two.

I will be in and out of the brewery this week but I will be there the whole next week until the last min. Letā€™s cheers our glasses one last time.

Love you allšŸ’‹

O'Connor's Irish Pub Closes SUDDENLY, Without Warning, Leaving Many Employees Jobless Without Notice

After seeing the announcement from Gladiator, I saw the announcement from O'Connor's and... I was SURE it was some kind of coordinated joke on Clarksville. But, apparently it's not.

Our last day of operation for Oā€™Connorā€™s Irish Pub was 8/28/22.

We have had a terrific time & hope you all did as well!

We thank our Staff over the 15 years who serviced our amazing customers.

The time has come to close our doors and move on to the next phase in life.

We also want to thank all the DJs, and Music Acts, who made the atmosphere possible.

We especially want to thank our Vendors, Suppliers, and Builders, for an outstanding job servicing and creating the Venue over the years.

Sincerely,

Oā€™Connorā€™s Irish Pub

HUNDREDS of comments and shares later, and O'Connor's should know how sorely they'll be missed. Frankly, I'm a bit shocked, with as many locals that flocked to this location regularly, that the owners wouldn't have just sold it and snuck out the back. At least then, all those that love the place could continue loving it. And employees could've kept their paychecks.

Speaking of sneaking out the back...

From the social chatter going around about their closing, that's pretty much what the owners did.

One commenter on Facebook said, "Damn, y'all done stepped out for a pack of smokes and never came back... way to go dad."

It would also appear, according to employees speaking out in Clarksville Facebook Groups, that many of the O'Connor's employees got nothing more than a text message that said, "Dear Bartenders & Servers, Our last day of operation for O'Connor's was last Saturday 8/27. We thank you for all your help & support! We have had a terrific time & hope you all did as well. The... (cutoff)"

I sure hope this is an exaggeration and they didn't really send off their employees like that. However, there are always two sides to every story. Truth is, they were a beloved establishment that served up great food and a lot of fun times, and they'll be missed.

MOST of the comments about the owner, Greg, were ones expressing sincere farewells and well wishes, and sharing fond memories.

Regardless, TWO beloved Clarksville favorites are going to be gone. šŸ˜

No More Event Stacking šŸ˜¬

Now, ALL events are not going away. Just the daily stack of events. I will still feature events that are relevant and meaningful that you should know about. AND... just for newsletter supporters, there will be a more robust event stack for the weekend.

*If you ever have an event that you want to be sure is included in the newsletter, check out our event boost options.

Below, I've included some great local resources where you can stay in tune with events. I've also given you a video showing how I've learned to search Facebook Events that's been helpful for me.

To be honest... I'm SO relieved that the event stacking is going away. It's going to bring a bit of joy back to the newsletter for me AND give me some much-needed time back in my day to invest in other efforts.

Here's a video showing how I search for Facebook events, that I hope is helpful:
